Abraham Friesen, Internationally Distinguished Professor of History Emeritus at the University of California, Santa Barbra, 1967-2004.

  • BA University of Manitoba, 1958. Studied at the University of Göttingen, Germany, 1957-1958 on a German Government fellowship.

  • MA University of Manitoba, 1962.

  • PhD Stanford University, 1967. Wrote the dissertation at the Institute of European History, Mainz, Germany, 1965-1967 on a Canada Council Fellowship, 1965-1967, and a stipend from the Institute.

  • Appointed Assistant Professor of History at University of California Santa Barbara fall of 1967-1974.

  • Associate Professor of History 1974-1980.

  • Full Professor of History University of California Santa Barbara 1980-2004.

  • Promoted to Professor VI, International Distinction in 1993, and Professor IX in 2004.
